One thing that stood out to me during my last role, is that the fertilizer industry sometimes seems to overlook who their ultimate customer is - the farmer. 


After retirement, I realized how much I missed talking to farmers and those relationships that I built over the many years at MKC. The comments and feedback to my questions are always interesting. Some people in the fertilizer industry view farming the same from one region to another.  In my conversations with growers, I get to hear about the diversity and the different ways that farmers use to manage their farms and businesses.


People ask, why am I starting a new career after retirement and why not just take it easy. First, I was able to retire at a young age due to the many years at the coop and work, crazy as it sounds, has always been my hobby. The world of fertilizer captured my attention and I was challenged by a former boss to learn as much as possible about the fertilizer industry.  A person never stops learning, and that led me to the idea behind Wright Ag; so I can continue to learn and share that knowledge with the industry and the real fertilizer customer – the farmer.
